Reversing Secrets of Reverse Engineering

Reversing Secrets of Reverse Engineering

Description:
Beginning with a basic primer on reverse engineering-including computer internals, operating systems, and assembly language-and then discussing the various
applications of reverse engineering, this book provides readers with practical, in-depth techniques for software reverse engineering. The book is broken into two parts, the first deals with security-related reverse engineering and the second explores the more practical aspects of reverse engineering. In addition, the author explains how to reverse engineer a third-party software library to improve interfacing and how to reverse engineer a competitor’s software to build a better product.
* The first popular book to show how software reverse engineering can help defend against security threats, speed up development, and unlock the secrets of competitive products
* Helps developers plug security holes by demonstrating how hackers exploit reverse engineering techniques to crack copy-protection schemes and identify software targets for viruses and other malware
* Offers a primer on advanced reverse-engineering, delving into “disassembly”-code-level reverse engineering-and explaining how to decipher assembly language

Quantitative Methods in Reservoir Engineering

Quantitative Methods in Reservoir Engineering

For the practitioner, this volume is a valuable tool for predicting reservoir flow in the most efficient and profitable manner possible, using quantitative methods rather than anecdotal and outdated methods. For the student, this volume offers insight not covered in other textbooks.
Too many approaches in traditional petroleum engineering are based on "ad hoc" and "common sense" methods that have no rigorous mathematical basis. Most textbooks dealing with reservoir engineering do not go into the necessary mathematical detail and depth. This new book by Wilson Chin, a revision of two earlier books published by Gulf Publishing, Modern Reservoir Flow and Well Transient Analysis and Formation Invasion, integrates rigorous mathematical methods for simulating and predicting reservoir flow both near and away from the well.

Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook

Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook

This important handbook comes to us from an experienced engineer at a most opportune time. Never has the cost of energy been greater, nor is there a promise that it has reached its price ceiling. Dr. Boyce is aware of these concerns, and through this handbook he has provided the guide and means for optimum use of each unit of energy supplied to a gas turbine. The handbook should find its place in all the reference libraries of those engineers and technicians who have even a small responsibility for design and operation of gas turbines.

Fundamentals of Air Pollution

Fundamentals of Air Pollution

Forewarns the tenor of its contents and presentation. Although this book consists of six parts and three authors, it is not to be considered six short books put together back-to-back to make one large one. By and large, the several parts are the work of more than one author. Obviously, the meteorologist member of the author team is principally responsible for the part of the book concerned with the meteorology of air pollution, the chemist author for the chapters on chemistry, and the engineer author for those on engineering.

The Finite Element Method in Engineering

Singiresu S. Rao, "The Finite Element Method in Engineering, Fourth Edition"
Publisher: Butterworth-Heinemann - ISBN: 0750678283 - 680 Pages - PDF - 18.8 Mb

Finite Element Analysis is an analytical engineering tool developed in the 1960's by the Aerospace and nuclear power industries to find usable, approximate solutions to problems with many complex variables. It is an extension of derivative and integral calculus, and uses very large matrix arrays and mesh diagrams to calculate stress points, movement of loads and forces, and other basic physical behaviors. Students will find in this textbook a thorough grounding of the mathematical principles underlying the popular, analytical methods for setting up a finite element solution based on those mathematical equations. It quickly bridges that knowledge to a host of real-world applications--from structural design, to problems in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. Professional engineers will benefit from the introduction to the many useful applications of finite element analysis, and will gain a better understanding of its limitations and special uses.

New to this edition:
· New sections added on the assemblage of element equations, and an important new comparison between finite element analysis and other analytical methodsshowing advantages and disadvantages of each
· Updated solutions manual available
· Improved sample and end-of-chapter problems

* The only book to provide a broadoverview of the underlying principles of finite element analysis and where it fits into the larger context of other mathematically based engineering analytical tools.
* New sections added on the assemblage of element equations, and an important new comparison between finite element analysis and other analytical methods, showing the advantages and disadvantages of each.
* New Companion website that will host usable finite element programs and sample engineering problems, as well as a Solutions Manual for end-of-chapter problems.

1.2 megs; PDF format

The successor to the original pioneering text "Computational Fluid Dynamics" (tranlated into Russian, Japanese and Chinese, and cited over 2066 times through 1995)this book covers the history and practice of CFD. Covered are both incompressible and compressible flows (including implicit methods for compressible flows and TVD methods),cartesian and body-fitted grid generation, recommendations on testing and information processing, finite difference vs. finite element methods, direct solvers, multigrid methods, high-order accuracy methods in non-orthogonal grids, the flux-based method of characteristics, solution adaptive methods, semidirect methods, contaminant transport in porous media, Richardson Exptrapolation and other error estimators, and verification and validation. A reviewer stated the book belongs on the bookshelf of every CFD practitioner.

About the Author
Patrick J. Roache has been a pioneer is Computational Fluid Dynamics since completing his Ph.D. in 1967. After a research appointment at Sandia Laboratories, he founded a small R&D firm. He has served as visiting and adjunct professor at six universities. He has authored 4 technical books and over 100 technical papers, and worked in aerodynamics, ocean modeling, and environmental performance analysis. He has received awards from two universities and the Knapp Award from ASME. He is a Fellow of ASME, and has served as the Associate Editor for Numerical Methods for the ASME Journal of Fluids Engineering. He chaired the AIAA Fluid Dynamics subcommittee on publication standards for CFD, and serves on several professional committees involved in standards for Verification and Validation; he also teaches a course on this subject for AIAA.
